Last week while on the gym treadmill, I watched a TV marathon on Nat Geo featuring the legendary Bruce Lee. It was so inspiring I ended up running for an extra 30 minutes without losing my breath. Big ups to this inspiring man. The philosophy this master lived by really connected with me in a personal and professional level.

Every single day, doing what The Bag Ladies do here in China (a place where quality and originality are never the first words that come out of people’s mouths), we constantly face battles with situations of mediocrity and laziness. Seeing what Bruce did all on his own and succeeded against the challenges of doubts, culture clashes and racism helps keep our heads up knowing we are doing the right thing.

Never duplicate. Be Ourselves. Be like water. That’s what we’ll do. Thanks Bruce.

Classic things don’t need a fresh coat of pain (you listening, China or Singapore?)
Here’s a picture of Malaysian fashion designer Jing Ooi with a classic 1960’s wedding dress by his side. We love his passion for the classics and the respect he applies to the beautiful designs and that’s why we’re so honored by his willingness to design my wife’s wedding dress.
Nothing contrived. Nothing Disney-fied. Nothing pretentious. Just letting a classic be a classic, draped over the most beautiful woman in my life.

Oh yes! Perfect contribution to the WTF Photo Blog entry! Only in China you can sip a cappu before waxing and drink shots after to numb the pain.

Introducing the “I’m so tired but feels wired so I can’t sleep and I’m all up on my social media” blog entry series:

My fav boots - Timberland. My company’s name - The Bag Ladies. They both share the initials TBL. Oh it’s a sign alright. Just hope they don’t sue me when I decide to design boots as well.

How do you define an unforgettable year? Made loads of money? Traveled the world? Ate at all the Michelin food joints? Made 1000 friends on Facebook? Had sex with 100 people? Got hitched? Got divorced? Became a parent? Lost a loved one? Bought a house? Lost a house? Got promoted? Got laid off?

For me, it’s all about spending the year with people that loves me and vice versa. The rest is all icing.

Happy New Year and let’s find our own joy from the things that matter to us.
